Martinez Refinery Explosion & Fire Report
The Contra Costa Fire protection District said six workers at the refinery were injured by fire and four needed to be hospitalized.
CONTA COSTA HEALTH said in a FB post , The Martinez refining company alerted the county about the fire at 1:47 p.m. The City of Martinez said Saturday night, The community alert level was high as a level 3 but reduced to level 2 .
According to report around 10:45 am, Bay Area Air Quality Began to receive complaints in Martinez ,CA related to chemicals/refinery odors. At 12:20pm , The Air District received 3rd complaint regarding ‘ industrial burning’ and ‘flaring’ at MRC refinery .
At 1:45 pm, The Air District started response to these complaints . At 1:50 pm, The Air District received a CONTRA COSTA COUNTY COMMUNITY warning system the CWS level 2 alert filed by MRC regarding a fire in the light oil processing area of the refinery.
Then The Air District Contacted MRC and dispatched staff to the area to handle the situation.

Around 5:15 p.m. The Martinez Refining Company said mutual aid had responded to assist with the fire , which had been contained to the site . Due to fire , Marina vista avenue from interstate 680 to court street , and shell avenue from Marina to Pacheco were closed .
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District said , it had inspectors on sites and issued an air quality advisory in Contra Costa and Solano counties due to the fire.

INCIDENT RESPONSE UPDATE
Martinez Refining Company (MRC) and Mutual Aid fighters have succeeded in getting the fire under control and remain site responding to incident .There were no serious injuries , as previously reported Six people were observed by medical and all have been released.
